The UK Headquarters of China Democracy Party held a protest demonstration on March 23 against the “23 Articles” imposed on HK.

On March 23, 2024, despite the biting chill of early spring, the UK Headquarters of China Democracy Party held a protest demonstration in London against the “23 articles” imposed on Hong Kong, standing in solidarity with Hong Kong compatriots in their pursuit of democracy and freedom.

At 1:00 PM, in front of the Chinese Embassy in the UK, party members held banners opposing the so-called Basic Law Article 23 imposed by the CCP government in Hong Kong, chanting slogans calling for freedom and democracy, protesting against the CCP’s imposition of iron-fisted politics in Hong Kong under the guise of “democratic governance”.

At 2:30 PM, the members rushed to the front of the UK Foreign Office, joining protesters from various Hong Kong democratic groups in the UK, including the British Hong Kongers Association and HKDC, to expose the hypocritical nature of the Hong Kong SAR government’s pseudo-democracy and true dictatorship, and to show support for Hong Kong compatriots around the world in their efforts and sacrifices to break free from human rights shackles.

Nearly 40 years have passed since the signing of the Sino-British Joint Declaration on the Question of Hong Kong’s Return in 1985. The promises made by the Chinese government to the people of Hong Kong “to let Hong Kong be Hong Kong” still echo in our ears, yet the countdown on the “50-year unchanged” empty promises has begun ticking.

The Hong Kong SAR government’s blatant disregard for public opinion has torn off the mask of the so-called democratically elected government in Hong Kong, adding a new blood debt to the CCP’s shame book of dictatorship. This is the chilling spring of Chinese democracy and Hong Kong democracy, and it is destined to be the spark of a new round of relentless struggle.

On an ordinary Saturday afternoon, a group of China Democracy Party UK Headquarters members, drumming and chanting for democracy and freedom, continue to pour out their passion for overseas democracy movements and write on with their faith. Old members and new comrades alike have expressed that they are fighting for democracy now, for eternal peace in the future. Our party members have a long way to go. The flame of freedom will not die, and the heart of democracy will not perish.

Adhering to the principle of non-violent struggle, the UK Headquarters of China Democracy Party notified the London Police Department of this protest demonstration. Upon receiving the news, the Chinese Embassy in the UK also erected barricades at the entrance. We must ask, what are they afraid of in the face of a group of unarmed, peaceful demonstrators from the China Democracy Party?!
