Commemorating the 14th Anniversary of the “75 Incident,” Multiple Human Rights Groups, including the UK Headquarters of China Democracy Party, Participate in Protest Activities
On 5th July 2023, the 14th anniversary of the “75 Incident,” various human rights groups, including the UK Headquarters of China Democracy Party, Uighur activists, Hong Kongers, Tibetans, gathered in front of the Chinese Embassy in London to participate in a large-scale protest. This day became an important moment for Uighurs in their fight for human rights and opposition against persecution.
The “75 Incident” refers to the riots that took place in Urumqi, Xinjiang, China on 5th July 2009. It was reported that hundreds of people died, and thousands were arrested or went missing as a result of the incident. Uighurs have long faced discrimination, oppression, and human rights abuses in China, and this event has become a symbol of their struggle for justice and freedom.
Uighurs and their supporters held Uighur flags, banners, and placards, chanting slogans, demanding an end to the discrimination and persecution of Uighurs by the Chinese government and calling for an end to the policy of cultural genocide. The organizers of the event delivered speeches, condemning the actions of the Chinese government and urging the international community to pay attention to the human rights situation of Uighurs. This protest was not only a commemoration of the victims of the “75 Incident” but also a call to the international community to focus on the persecution of Uighurs by the Chinese government. Members of the UK Headquarters of China Democracy Party held slogans such as “CCP IS A LIAR,” expressing strong dissatisfaction with the widespread human rights violations under the authoritarian rule of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Participants hoped that through this protest, they could raise awareness of the deteriorating human rights crisis to people around the world.
On July 2, 2023, Amnesty International UK Section held an award ceremony in London. The annual “China Human Rights Lawyers Award,” which has been held for six years, was renamed as the “709 Human Rights Lawyers Award” this year. It aims to recognize human rights lawyers, both in China and overseas, who have been suppressed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for defending human rights. The recipients of this year’s award are Chinese human rights lawyers Yu Wensheng and Zhou Shifeng, as well as Hong Kong barrister and former Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Alliance in Support of Patriotic Democratic Movements of China, Albert Ho Chun-yan. Representatives from the UK Headquarters of China Democracy Party attended the event.
Due to the persecution by the CCP, none of the three awardees were able to personally receive the award on-site. Instead, it was accepted by their friends on their behalf. Zhou Fengsuo, the founder of the non-governmental organization Humanitarian China and the executive director of China Human Rights, announced the recipients of the 709 Human Rights Lawyers Award and presented the awards.
The award is organized by several non-profit international organizations. The co-organizing groups emphasized that since the start of the “709 Crackdown” in 2015, over three hundred lawyers and dissidents have been arrested and imprisoned by the CCP. Even after serving their sentences, they continue to face harassment, including forced relocation, water and power cuts, license revocations, and travel restrictions. Many have been forced to flee overseas. As the CCP’s human rights persecution extends to Hong Kong, the rights and freedoms of Hong Kong lawyers and the people have also been deprived. Therefore, the organizing institutions decided this year to rename the award from “China Human Rights Lawyers Award” to “709 Human Rights Lawyers Award,” expanding its scope to include lawyers facing suppression in Hong Kong and other places.
As a political human rights organization, the UK Headquarters of China Democracy Party has been dedicated to establishing a society in China with genuine freedom, democracy, the rule of law, and human rights. We support and encourage the efforts and dedication of Chinese human rights lawyers and admire their courage in defending human rights without fear of the CCP’s suppression. The UK Headquarters of China Democracy Party will continue to collaborate with relevant international organizations and focus on the human rights situation in Chinese society, promoting social progress and the democratization process in China.

Summary of the work of each party department in the first half of the year.
Under the leadership of Chairman Guanru Wang, the UK Headquarters, with the strong assistance of Advisor Huang Hua, has accomplished a great deal of work since its establishment two years ago. They have held three overseas seminars on the “democratic process in mainland China” with the participation of overseas democracy activists from various countries. They have also organized activities in front of the Chinese Embassy in the UK, protesting against the Chinese government’s suppression of political dissidents. Currently, the Headquarters of the China Democracy Party has become a highly influential organization in the overseas democracy movement in Europe.
Vice Chairman Lan Wei, who resides in Copenhagen, Denmark, has maintained close contacts with Danish parliamentarians, including the former president of the European Union. Vice Chairman Lan Wei has consistently promoted the principles of the China Democracy Party and exposed the atrocities of the Chinese Communist Party’s one-party authoritarian rule. He has had a certain influence on the Danish government and the European Union, making significant contributions to our party. During the commemoration of the 34th anniversary of the June 4th incident this year, a symposium was organized for Chinese Communist Party students in Copenhagen, with the participation of Danish parliamentarians.
Under the leadership of Vice Chairman Jie Lijian, the US West Coast Department has been actively involved in various activities, organizing protests against the Chinese Communist Party’s persecution of Chinese political dissidents, as well as maintaining contacts with overseas democracy activists, Falun Gong practitioners, and representatives from other religious communities in Los Angeles. When President Tsai Ing-wen of Taiwan visited the US West Coast, she also met with Vice Chairman Jie Lijian. The young generation of overseas democracy activists, exemplified by Jie Lijian, has grown up. Our US West Coast Department has become a major force in the overseas democracy movement in the western United States, attracting the attention of various media outlets.
Under the leadership of Chairman Tang Yuanjun, the US East Coast Department has been growing steadily. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic over the past three years, many new immigrants from mainland China who entered New York through illegal channels have joined various democracy organizations, significantly increasing the number of members in the US East Coast Department. Chairman Tang Yuanjun has actively participated in various activities, including holding events in front of the Flushing Library to expose the historical facts of the Chinese Communist Party’s persecution of the people at different times. With their personal experiences, they have raised awareness among the American public about the authoritarian regime of the Chinese Communist Party. In commemoration of the 34th anniversary of the June 4th incident this year, they participated in the opening ceremony and parade at the “June 4th Memorial” in Manhattan on June 2nd, and a large-scale march with hundreds of people in Flushing on June 4th.
Under the leadership of Chairman Qin Xiquan, the New Australia Department organized protest marches and candlelight vigils. The Thai Department, led by Vice Secretary-General and former Southeast Asia Department Chairman Li Xiaolong, together with the current Southeast Asia Department Chairman Nie Baoguo, organized several activities to commemorate the 34th anniversary of the June 4th incident in recent years, making significant contributions to the rescue of political dissidents fleeing mainland China. Under the leadership of Chairman Ye Guozhong, the Netherlands Department, together with other democracy organizations in the Netherlands, held activities to commemorate the 34th anniversary of the June 4th incident.
Registration for the observation mission of the 2024 Taiwan election has officially begun. Those interested in participating can register with Chairman Wang Min and Secretary-General Han Wu of the headquarters.

Commemorating the Fourth Anniversary of the “Anti-Extradition Law Amendment Bill” – UK Headquarters of China Democracy Party Supports and Participates in Hong Kong Rally
On the afternoon of June 11, 2023, nearly a thousand Hong Kong people gathered at the UK Parliament Square in London to commemorate the fourth anniversary of the Hong Kong “Anti-Extradition Law Amendment Bill” movement. The rally was organized by multiple Hong Kong groups and saw the participation of not only Hong Kong residents in the UK but also other human rights organizations and groups, including the UK Headquarters of China Democracy Party, Tibetan, Uyghur, and other rights advocates.
On June 9, 2019, over one million Hong Kong people took to the streets in a massive demonstration to express their strong opposition to the Hong Kong government’s proposed amendments to the Fugitive Offenders and Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters Legislation (commonly known as the “Extradition Bill”). It was the first time in history that over a million people participated in a protest in Hong Kong, garnering international media attention. Despite the clear expression of public sentiment, the Hong Kong government continued to disregard the voices of its citizens and announced plans to resume the legislative process, leading to a second reading debate. That day marked the beginning of the 2019 Anti-Extradition Law Amendment Bill movement, and Hong Kongers began a determined fight for justice, democracy, freedom, and widespread citizen participation, ushering in a transformation in Hong Kong.
China Democracy Party, as an organization that advocates for democracy and human rights, has consistently supported the democratic movement in Hong Kong. We believe that Hong Kong matters! The democracy movement matters! The cause of freedom and democracy in Hong Kong is not only the right of the Hong Kong people but also a shared responsibility of all Chinese people. We are facing the same evil regime of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), which not only undermines the freedom and rule of law in Hong Kong but also poses a threat to Taiwan and affects the whole world. Faced with tyranny, if we do not resist, it will persecute even more people. Therefore, members of the UK Headquarters of China Democracy Party actively participated in today’s rally, standing in solidarity with Hong Kong residents in the UK to fight against the CCP’s tyranny. During the Anti-Extradition Law Amendment Bill period, some people believed that Hong Kong could achieve autonomy without overthrowing the CCP. However, over the past four years, the world has witnessed that Hong Kong cannot simply pursue self-determination but must work towards the overthrow of the authoritarian CCP regime for both Hong Kong and the entire China to truly enjoy freedom and democracy.
Reported by Chen Bin, UK Headquarters of China Democracy Party.
伦敦时间晚上7点左右,约400位的示威者游行至数公里外的中国大使馆,沿途一路高呼口号:Free China, Free Tibet, Free Hongkong, Free East Turkestan, Fight for freedom ,Take down CCP, Take down Xi jinping.
Pledge: We Will Never Forget – China Democratic Party UK Headquarters Commemorates the June 4th Event
On June 4, 2023, the 34th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Massacre, a protest march organized by the “China Deviants” group, composed of Chinese students studying in the UK, took place in London. The event was jointly participated by the China Democratic Party UK Headquarters, Hong Kongers, Tibetans, Uighurs, and other human rights organizations and groups.
The protesters gathered at Trafalgar Square in central London before marching towards the Chinese Embassy. At Trafalgar Square, the organizers dressed as the Statue of Liberty, “Big White,” a symbol of the zero-COVID policy in China, and distributed articles written by Beijing students in 1989. They also created a tank with the words “Socialist Core Values” to commemorate the demonstrators who were killed during the crackdown. In a symbolic manner, they imitated the students from Tiananmen Square, wearing headbands with slogans like “Press Freedom,” “Freedom of Speech,” and “The Last Generation.” They read aloud the demands for freedom and democracy made by the students at that time and reenacted the scene when tanks rolled towards and crushed the students.
Around 7 p.m., approximately 400 protesters reached the Chinese Embassy, several kilometers away, chanting slogans such as “Free China, Free Tibet, Free Hong Kong, Free East Turkestan, Fight for freedom, Take down CCP, Take down Xi Jinping.” Along the way, foreign supporters raised their thumbs in support and some joined in chanting “Free China.” Members of the China Democratic Party UK Headquarters carried banners and slogans commemorating the June 4th event, such as “Better to Die Than to Live Without Freedom” and “IT’S MY DUTY,” while marching and chanting alongside other protesters. Upon reaching the Chinese Embassy, Amnesty International distributed additional banners and electronic candles to mourn the victims of June 4th.
In China, the Communist Party has erased all traces of the June 4th incident, fearing any mention or reference to it. Even in Hong Kong, the long-standing “June 4th Victoria Park Vigil” cannot be held anymore. Our commemoration of June 4th is a resistance against tyranny, an inheritance of the spirit of June 4th, and a struggle for freedom, democracy, and human rights in China. As written on one of the banners by Chinese students: “In the annals of history and in people’s hearts, let the truth not be concealed by the dust.”
