Supporting Hong Kong: Commemorating the 4th Anniversary of the “7.21 Incident” Rally

Supporting Hong Kong: Commemorating the 4th Anniversary of the “7.21 Incident” Rally

On 7.21, Hong Kongers gathered in London’s Piccadilly Circus to mark the event that took place on July 21, 2019, at Yuen Long MTR station in Hong Kong. It was a day when white-clad individuals indiscriminately attacked protesters and civilians. Some members of the UK Headquarters of China Democracy Party participated in the rally to express their support for Hong Kongers.

Four years ago on July 21st, a large group of white-clad individuals launched indiscriminate attacks on civilians inside and near Yuen Long MTR station in Hong Kong, with some carrying weapons. The police were suspected of colluding with triad gangs, and the incident became a significant turning point in the anti-extradition movement. Despite the passage of four years, both in Hong Kong and the UK, people continue to seek accountability for the “police-triad collusion.” As a result, Hong Kongers held “7.21 Anti-Police-Triad Collusion” rallies in various locations in the UK. During the rally, a speaker from Japan emphasized their support for Hong Kong’s freedom, and witnesses who were present during the 7.21 incident in Yuen Long shared their accounts of that night. The participants chanted protest slogans and played investigative reports from Hong Kong radio stations produced in 2020.

Mainland China and Hong Kong both face the same Communist regime. The members of the UK Headquarters of China Democracy Party who participated in the rally stated that anti-communists must unite, support each other, and raise a collective voice. Only by ending the one-party authoritarian rule of the Chinese Communist Party can there be true freedom and the rule of law in Mainland China and Hong Kong.
