China Democracy Party European and UK Headquarters Join Hong Kong Democracy Activists in Britain in Supporting the Hong Kong Alliance

China Democracy Party European and UK Headquarters Join Hong Kong Democracy Activists in Britain in Supporting the Hong Kong Alliance

At a time when the Hong Kong Alliance in Support of Patriotic Democratic Movements of China has been forcibly dissolved by the Chinese Communist Party and the Hong Kong government, and its core members are facing severe judicial persecution, members of the China Democracy Party European Headquarters and UK Headquarters joined a number of Hong Kong democracy activists based in Britain in holding a protest outside the Chinese Embassy in London on the afternoon of 29 August 2026.

The demonstrators strongly condemned the CCP and the Hong Kong government for suppressing civil society, violating fundamental human rights, and attempting to erase the historical memory of the 4 June crackdown.

At the rally, protesters held signs calling for democracy and freedom and opposing CCP dictatorship. They demanded the immediate release of Lee Cheuk-yan, Chow Hang-tung and Albert Ho, three core members of the Hong Kong Alliance. The crowd expressed strong emotions and jointly sang “The Bloodstained Glory”. The singing and protest slogans attracted the attention of many passers-by, prompting greater public awareness of human rights, justice and the current situation of democracy in Hong Kong.

Forced Elimination of the Hong Kong Alliance: A Grave Attack on Freedom of Assembly and Historical Memory

Since its establishment in 1989, the Hong Kong Alliance held the annual 4 June candlelight vigil in Victoria Park for thirty consecutive years. For decades, it served as an important symbol within Chinese communities around the world of the pursuit of democracy and the preservation of historical truth.

The CCP and the Hong Kong government have abused the Hong Kong National Security Law by portraying peaceful commemoration of the victims of 4 June and calls for democratic political reform as “inciting subversion of state power”.

This is not only a violation of rights guaranteed under Hong Kong’s Basic Law and international human rights conventions, but also a severe attempt to erase human conscience and historical memory.

Passing on the Spirit of Resistance: Democratic Forces from Mainland China and Hong Kong Stand Together

This protest demonstrated the firm solidarity between the China Democracy Party European Headquarters, the China Democracy Party UK Headquarters and Hong Kong democratic forces.

Members of the China Democracy Party European and UK Headquarters stated in their speeches that people from mainland China who seek freedom and democracy and those who defend Hong Kong’s freedoms have always stood on the same front.

The suppression of the Hong Kong Alliance cannot stop people from pursuing freedom, human rights and constitutional democracy. Overseas democracy organisations and Hongkongers who seek freedom will continue to bear the responsibility of preserving the historical memory of 4 June and exposing the truth of authoritarian repression.

At the end of the rally, all protesters made the following pledge:

As long as authoritarian rule remains, we will never stop defending historical memory or pursuing democracy and freedom.

The protesters stated that overseas democratic forces would continue working with the international community to put pressure on the CCP and the Hong Kong government, demanding the immediate and unconditional release of all political prisoners punished for their speech, an end to the political persecution of Hong Kong Alliance members and Hong Kong democracy activists, and the restoration of the freedom, rights and dignity to which the people of Hong Kong are entitled.
